Almost...

Not long now before I am calling it the weekend. In a wicked Tallboy and Sun Chips kind of mood. Sounds like a plan.

Kalle Dussin

Watching Kvarteret Skatan online.
Come Sunday it is the 300 year anniversary of the Battle of Poltava. I tried to get the wife exited about that last night - it didn't really work... So we went and saw Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen. It was awesome!

No roses at M.U.S.C.

Starting to get my sense of smell back since the cold is on its last leg. Too bad hospitals smell like... hospitals.

Welcome To The Jungle

Just Black Flagged the shit out of another poisonous spider. He was a big one, with markings and all - taught him not to step on my turf.

Bruce Campbell fest, anyone?

It is half past eight and still above 90 degrees out. The wife has gone to Mississippi over the day and will be back tomorrow, so I am going to spend the night with a Daim bar and Netflix's range of online films.

No Kubb?

Had a great Midsummer's Eve last night. I showed the Yanks how to do it Northern style. I whipped up a summery evening consisting of steaks, an awesome potato salad (full of herbs and french mustard) and Matt's homemade apple pie. Below is me mixing it up!

When we came home from the mother in law's last night after the dinner we found a poisonous(!) spider in the kitchen, he was fecking huge. As the daily temperature now hit the 100's I am starting to see loads of weird creatures, and especially bugs, that I have never seen before. I am just going to assume they are all lethal and stay away from them.

Tigermilk

I've got the sniffles and it is sort of hazy-but-really-hot out. Somehow the two factors combined gets me in a Belle & Sebastian mood. Sometimes all you need is some Glaswegian Indie pop.

Norris does it again

This is pretty much the coolest clip ever. A girl with Downs Syndrome get saved by Walker, Texas Ranger from Gary Busey.
I just want to be clear - The humour does not lie in the girl's condition, but the marvelous fight and high number of round house kicks that Chuck manages to squeeze into the small time frame.

Salinger loves Bale

Today the thunderstorm began at 6 am, so it was over by 9 - which was cool. I am getting proper sick though, walking around with a snot rag in hand all over campus.
This article about J.D. Salinger raving about the new Terminator film is hilarious.

Mardy Bum

Listening to Arctic Monkeys on the Ipod and brazing myself for a day full of me sweating through my shirt and the getting soaked in the token three o'clock thunder storm. I think I am getting a cold, so I have been holding off on the workouts, and since my feet started to look like the ones of Joseph Merrick I haven't gone for a run in a week. Not good, but in my defense I am trying to keep myself healthy and able to walk for Midsummer's Eve.

Matt the Mover

Me and the wife are supposed to help her sister move during the weekend. I told the sister-in-law I would be happy to do it if she would put up the traditional free pizza and beer. This means that I shan't go hungry nor sober all weekend. Fabulous!

I once had a frog...

Just found Smala Sussie (or Slim Susie as it is called over here) on Netflix. I am gonna try to persuade the spouse and sister in law to watch it with me. I have got a burned copy at home, but that one lacks subtitles and I can only watch it on the laptop, which apparently isn't good enough...

Boom-shacka-lack

I just fo' knuckled with a dude at work. I also just gave someone directions and started them with saying "What you wanna do is..."
Getting more American by the day over here.

Doors

This whole day seems to have been somehow dominated by a weird door phenomenon. Granted you are bound to see and use doors on a daily basis, but today is not like any other day. It started this morning when I went for my 6 mile(!) run. For some reason the whole neighbourhood had decided to randomly throw old doors on their front lawns. There were wooden doors to the left of me, screen doors to the right of me. It was strange, some might even say upsetting!
When I later get to work I notice that the hallway outside my "office" is covered with - doors!, old ones, new ones, all shape, size and colour. Some strange people have been sneaking around said doors all day, moving them and putting them in piles and such. I don't know if this means anything, but even if it doesn't - it's damn odd!

Every-Day Luxury

The wife and myself splurged out a little tonight and bought a bag of Doritos. It was really good. Tried to watch some I'm a celebrity, get me out of here but seeing all those has-beens and wannabes was more sad than fun. I'll take reruns of How I Met Your Mother any day.

The pictures below are as follow:

a) A cat in a box.

b) An awesome dinner we fixed the other day. The North Carolina moonshine and homemade bread (both seen in the picture) really put it over the top, very Greek.

Go Eagles

Monday morning again. According to the Weather Channel App on my phone it is going to rain all week, it is actually starting to drizzle just now - so that is a downer.
The good news is that I just found two tickets for 15 pops ($) each for the USA - Canada rugby game on July 4th. Should be able to afford them in a couple of weeks.
It is going to be an awesome Independence Day. Nothing boosts your spirit like watching some quasi-Brits getting their beehinds kicked. Up The Republic!

Almost the weekend

At the moment I am listening to the new Sonic Youth album on ilike.com. It sounds really good!
So yesterday my spacey but utterly charming sister in law called in to the local radio station to inform them that it was The Day of the Swedish Flag, the Swedish national day. As we all know this day does not happen till June 6, this Saturday. Although, the old country of Heroes and Honour is actually worth celebrating twice, so - good job Trin.

"Gotta be at least five. Five and a deuce is good"

Had more time than usual to kill this morning so I decided to go for a run, even though that's usualy a Tuesday & Thursday kind of thing. I just found out yesterday that my regular "track" was only four miles, so today I decided to make it proper. And I did - 6 miles, that's almost 10K.

Tuesday's Done

On my way home from work in a couple of minutes. Need to charge my G1, this thing devours battery like an energy hungry wolf!

Rosebud...

Gave the wife some roses last week. They were all in the same vase, but Mr. Mustard chewed of the stem of one of them. Anyway it gave her an excellent opportunity to use her beloved Macro setting on her camera.

Googeley phone

Here's some images of the new piece of machinery...

So now I am doing nothing but downloading cool apps and getting directions through Google Map everywhere I go.

G is for Gemenskap

Another thing that is occupying way to much of my time now is my new phone. I say phone - it is actually more like a space machine from the future! It is like something snatched from Batman's utility belt!
Since the spouse now work at T-Mobile we can get the coolest phones from there. She got the Sidekick and I got the G1. I will update you with pictures of it later, but for now - just know that it is pretty much the sweetest phone ever.

Basil Mouse

Back to work again. Have to walk around in all the mugginess and look like a starched dog.
Had a really nice day yesterday with ups and downs.
Downer: Tried to show the wife my massive baking skills only to mess it up with the yeast and end up with two loafs weighing in on 4,5 lbs each (2 kg).
Upper: Tried an awesome beer, Cirkus Boy from the good people at Magic Hat. Made with Lemon Grass, mind you.

I enjoyed it together with my new DVD - The Great Mouse Detective. The film was an anniversary gift from the Mrs.
