Fire & Filosophy

The wife's away with her mum watching a vampire film, So I have got a crackling fire and the good company of old Albert Camus to keep me warm and happy tonight.

... And We're Back

While staying home today, studying for an upcoming exam in Cognitive Psychology, I thought it fitting to dress like a crack-head.

Liberal Arts

Today I had my first day as a Psychology student. It was a lot of fun and I am really looking forward to diving deeper into the abyss of the the human subconscious.

August?

One of the major books I need for class on Monday seems to be impossible to get one's hands on. The publisher's stock has gone empty and the Internet store I ordered it from just sent me an email saying they have sent me the free notebook that came with the order and will ship me the book I actually ordered as soon as they get it. That's grand - two shipment fees and no book. These are the kind of things about being a student you forget when you're out of school, longing back to the world of Academia.

Here are some cool pics.
Sean and his dad while he was sporting some Strindberg-esque facial hair. Most people thought it was awesome, the wives of some didn't.

Sean and I Mucking around in our pants.

Sean on the way home from a tiring day at Öland.

Ay Caramba

Saturday afternoon. There are rumours about Mexican food tonight and the spirits are naturally high.
Here are some recent pictures of the son, wife and I.

Going for a lake side walk this morning.

Dead Poets Rock?

Lately I have been in a wicked mood for the old "Dead Poet's Society", which is really peculiar since I really can't stand Robin Williams - at all! He is one of the most overrated comedians in the last two decades.

This mightn't actually be Robin Williams - but it is just as funny.

I think, however, I can trace my odd willingness to overlook williams' poor acting ability to the recent lack of two things: Universities and Autumns, both which are quite frequent in the film. However - since September is around the corner and I am one week away from once again roaming uni campuses in a chevalier and slightly arrogant manner - I might actually make it without the help of old RW.

At the moment I am Spotyfying some Rage Against The Machine trying to find a book to read in bed. Right now James Joyce is in the lead ahead of Neil Gaiman...

At Last!

I finally managed to post the pictures I was intending to last night.
Like I said earlier they are from one of our many day trips to Kalmar. We find it quite enjoyable to punk around in the castle garden, checking out birds and colourful flowers.

Late Summer Update

I thought I would share some pictures of myself and the son at one of our latest leisure days in Kalmar, but for some reason the picture-uploading function seem to be down at the moment so I guess I'll just tell you all about what is going on at the moment in stead.
The wife , kid and I are enjoying the last quiet weeks before the university opens it doors for the fall and I start my new career as a Psychology major.
The Mrs is already spending her weekdays studying and learning Swedish, she aced a test the other day and is since placed in the advance class.
The lad is growing every day and is now composing three-word sentences.
As soon as I can I will post some wicked pictures.

Still Here

Yes, the old Matt is still alive and well. I am back on the Blog horse and hope to keep it up in the future.
A couple of things have changed since March, the major one is that I no longer live in Charleston, SC, but have switched one metropolis for another and is now a resident of Örsjö, Sweden.
I hope to start posting pictures and frequent updates again, but as I now have to go to the local library to do my blogging it might be a bit scarce to start with.

Until then I leave you with Dr. king´s famous words which I think fits perfectly for myself and the rest of the Eriksons leaving the US for old Europe. "Free at last, free at last! Thank God almighty We are free at last!"

How Rude

For two night now the cleaning staff have neglected my requests to hook me up with some plastic bags for my new bin, even after I made them a drawing emphasizing on the urgency.

Calling Dr Awesome!!

If you don't have the patience to go to Medical School, but still want a fancy title - just get a job at a hospital. Sooner or later someone will make the assumption you are a doctor, and when they do all you've got to do is hold on to that and never let go.

To DC and Back

Here are some photos to better explain last weekend's adventurous trip to the Nation's Capital.

Ride On, Ride On

I just finished a phone conversation with a woman at the Institutional Review Board with shouting "Whooo!"

Blazed

These drugs are really making my life harder. I just misspelled "Guardian" five times before I finally managed to get on he Daily Guardian website and read some British slightly leftist journalism.
This week my job will consist of reading and proof-reading medical consents, diagnoses and match them up with eligibility criteria, all this is while I have to focus and use all my will power to grab my coffee mug from the desk.

Car Nap

This is what happens when you get strung out on Goldfish crackers and exhausted from playing with you cousin.

Office High-jinks

After having a week with insufferable back pain I finally caved and let the wife take me to the hospital Saturday night. As it turns out, I pulled a muscle whilst flexing in the gym, and was letting it get inflamed and left to swell while i was waiting for it to sort itself out. I am now strung out on wicked strong pain kills that makes me feel I should have taken the short bus into work this morning. I feel as if my synapses are acting like those kids who sit in the back of the class with their jacket on, and while being slow and stupid brings down the intellectual achievement for the whole rest of the class, while my short term memory has taken a well deserved holiday and left me to fend for myself. I believe this is going to be along day - mainly because my perception of time is riding the Oxycodone train to slowville.

Footie

After dealing with a wicked foot infection which caused one of my feet to swell like a balloon, and cost me two pairs of shoes I am finally confident that my self medicating has had effect. After a strict regimen of Peroxide, Neosporin and a countless number of strategically placed band-aids it felt good to march in to Wal-Mart last night and get my hands on the cheapest pair of trainers I could find. I am hoping to try them out tonight.

Sunday

We started off with some oatmeal for breakfast.

We played puzzles with the cat.

We defied the poor weather and went to the playground to practice going down stairs. Up is no problem, down is still a bit tricky.

Then we went to the pet store to watch dogs being groomed, and wave to the staff.

Saturday

Here are the pictures of last weekend. Not much of a mix-up from other weekends, but it was still a good time.

We spent a large part of Saturday collecting acorns.
